The new principle owners on record are Paul Kaufman (form attorney for both Woodcliff Lake and Paramus), and Richard LaBarbiera (Mayor of Paramus). Upon purchase of this property, an application was submitted to the Zoning Board to rezone the property from a SO Special Office to Rental Apartments.
The owners of 188 Broadway purchased an office building that was not vacant. They did not explore any options to lease any of the office space. The owners had their sites from the beginning to convert the existing building, and also construct a second building to allow for 60 rental apartments. This is like trying to squeeze a size 10 foot into a size 6 shoe; or like forcing a square peg into a round in that area.
